Trust & Safety

How we help keep our community safe and trustworthy.

Last updated: 2026-03-21

1. Overview

Carseto brings together buyers and sellers from across Europe. We are not a party to any transaction - you deal directly with other users - but we provide tools and processes to help you make informed decisions and reduce risk.

2. Identity Verification

Users can choose to verify their identity to build trust. Verification tiers may include:

- Email verification (basic)
- Phone verification

- ID verification (government-issued document)

- Business registration (for dealers)

Verified users display a badge on their profile and listings. Verification does not guarantee that a user or vehicle is legitimate - it confirms that the person provided documents matching the claimed identity.

3. Vehicle Checks

We encourage sellers to provide VIN or chassis numbers. Where available, we may cross-reference listings with stolen vehicle databases. This is not a comprehensive vehicle history report - we recommend buyers conduct their own checks (e.g. HPI, Carfax, or local equivalent) before purchase.

4. Messaging Safety

Our internal messaging keeps conversations on-platform and traceable. We monitor for signs of fraud, scam attempts, and contact-information sharing that may indicate attempts to move transactions off-platform. Report any suspicious messages to us.

Never send money outside our platform for vehicles you have not seen. Be wary of sellers who pressure you to pay quickly or communicate only via email or phone.

5. Buyer Tips

Before buying:

- Inspect the vehicle in person where possible, or arrange an independent inspection
- Verify ownership and documentation (registration, service history)

- Use secure payment methods - avoid wire transfers to unknown parties

- Be cautious of prices that seem too good to be true

We are developing escrow and buyer protection features. When available, they will be announced on the Platform.
