Let us know you're coming

The Targa Florio Classica is the regularity revival of the Targa Florio, the race founded by Vincenzo Florio on 6 May 1906 and described by its organisers as the oldest motor race in the world. The 2027 dates have not yet been announced. The 2026 edition ran from 15 to 18 October, so an October 2027 date is expected, to be confirmed by the Automobile Club d'Italia and AC Palermo.

The 2026 edition marked 120 years of the Targa and was the final round of the Campionato Italiano Grandi Eventi. It brought 200 crews from around the world and more than 600 km of routes across the provinces of Palermo and Trapani. The start ceremony was held at 18:00 on Thursday 15 October in Piazza Verdi, in front of the Teatro Massimo, and the Marina Yachting on the Molo Trapezoidale served as headquarters for scrutineering, race control and the final arrival.

Friday's leg went into the Trapani area, touching Terrasini, Erice, the Marsala salt pans, Selinunte, Segesta and Campobello di Mazara, presented as one of the birthplaces of Italian regularity, with lunch at the Cantine Florio in Marsala. Saturday was devoted to the Grande Circuito delle Madonie, with a lunch stop in Pollina, and on Sunday crews could add a run through Altofonte and Monreale before the prize-giving. Alongside the historic cars ran the Ferrari Tribute to Targa Florio, with more than 70 modern Ferraris, and the Italian Army took part for the first time with a 1929 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 SS Zagato and a 1938 Fiat 1100 508 C Mimetica.

Gianmario Fontanella and Giovanni Scarabelli won the 2026 event in a 1930 Fiat 514 Sport on 302.90 penalty points, also taking the Campionato Italiano Grandi Eventi title. Their win broke a run of Sicilian crews winning the previous four editions.

For spectators, the start in front of the Teatro Massimo is the moment the event comes into the heart of Palermo, before the cars head out to the roads that made the Targa famous.
