Essen Motor Show 2026 - the new classic car halls

The Essen Motor Show has included classic cars for more than four decades, and 2026 brings a fresh start. After the end of the SIHA-run Classic and Prestige Salon, Messe Essen now runs the classic area itself and is sole organiser of the whole show. The 2026 edition runs from 28 November to 6 December, with a Preview Day on 27 November.

The new concept splits the classics by age. Hall 1 is reserved for youngtimers aged 20 to 29 years, and Hall 2 belongs to oldtimers aged 30 years and over. Dealers, clubs and private sellers present cars in both halls, and two sales miles offer spare parts, accessories, model cars, care products, literature and clothing. Project leader Ralf Sawatzki has said the focus is on coupés and sporting models. Clubs applied to exhibit through an open call.

Awards add an incentive. One goes to the most beautiful youngtimer and one to the most valuable oldtimer. In 2025 an international jury named a Maserati Mistral 4000 the most beautiful oldtimer. A new Car Market in Hall 1A offers 146 spaces for commercial and private sellers. In 2026 Hall 2 also hosts a special marking 100 years of Route 66 and a show for the 80th birthday of the Vespa. A Fast and Furious special features in Hall 1.

Around 500 exhibitors from 19 countries are expected across the site, so classic buyers can combine their visit with tuning, motorsport and performance halls.
