Each October, the weekly La Vie de l'Auto and Éditions LVA take over the banked ring of the Autodrome de Linas-Montlhéry for the Coupes Auto Légende, a weekend of track sessions for amateur drivers in classic cars. The 2027 edition is expected on 9 and 10 October 2027, following the pattern of previous years, but the organiser had not published dates at the time of writing.
The concept is simple. There is no stopwatch and no chasing lap times, because the show and the pleasure of driving come first. Drivers are grouped into six plateaux, from pre-war cars and popular classics to mini bombes (hot hatches), youngtimers and recent sports cars, and take turns on the concrete ring. Away from the track there is a village of exhibitors with an exchange market, a zone reserved for clubs, author signings and themed exhibitions.
The event is young but growing. The 2025 edition, the second, welcomed 400 drivers and 7,500 visitors, according to Éditions LVA's own review of the weekend, and the Essonne tourist board cites more than 7,500 visitors. The third edition, on 10 and 11 October 2026, coincided with La Vie de l'Auto's 50th anniversary. The FFVE reported a field of exceptional quality, including cars that had contested the 2026 Tour Auto, and the Musée des Pompiers de Paris also took part.
The setting is a large part of the appeal. The ring was inaugurated in 1924, designed by engineer Raymond Jamin at the initiative of Alexandre Lamblin, with banked curves that UTAC says reach up to 52 degrees so that cars could keep their speed through the turns. More than a hundred records were set there in its first year.
For 2026, gates opened from 08:45 to 18:00 on both days, and tickets cost €15 for one day or €25 for the weekend. Drivers registered online through the official site. Dates, prices and registration for 2027 will be confirmed by the organiser.
The Coupes Auto Légende are organised by Éditions LVA, publisher of La Vie de l'Auto. The 2026 event on 10-11 October was the third edition, so a 2027 event would be the fourth.
