The RAC Rally of the Tests runs from 19 to 22 November 2026, and this year the whole route is in Wales. HERO-ERA rates it as an "expert" event and the ultimate challenge on the historic rally calendar, mixing regularity sections, driving tests and timed controls over three intense days after a prologue.
The rally restarts from where it ended the year before, in the resort town of Llandudno. The prologue on Thursday 19 November gives crews their first competitive elements before an evening of stories. Leg One on 20 November runs along the A55 to Anglesey for four regularities and a visit to the Trac Mon circuit for tests, with a coffee halt in the circuit café. Leg Two on 21 November starts with tests near Llandudno before heading south to Mid Wales, including two tests at the Sweet Lamb rally complex and a supper halt at Builth Wells. The final leg follows on Sunday 22 November.
Introduced as a second option, the "LITE" version returns in 2026 alongside the traditional format. It has less night driving and simpler navigation, so crews of all abilities can take part. Both formats score in the HERO-ERA Cup. HERO-ERA provides mechanical assist and sweep teams and a full team of officials and marshals.
The name links to the RAC rallies of the early 1930s, which were built around driving tests. The modern event is one of the main fixtures in HERO-ERA's British season, along with LE JOG, which runs on 16-19 January 2027.
