Le Mans Classic returns to the Circuit des 24 Heures du Mans from 1 to 4 July 2027 for its 25th anniversary, and with it the traditional format that made its name. Organised by Peter Auto and the Automobile Club de l'Ouest, the event became annual from 2026, alternating between two formats: Le Mans Classic Legend for cars from 1976 onwards in even years, and Le Mans Classic Heritage for cars that raced at Le Mans between 1923 and 1975 in odd years. 2027 is the first Heritage edition under the new rhythm.
The move to an annual event was driven by growing demand, especially for endurance cars from the 1980s to the 2010s, which could no longer fit into a single edition every two years. Peter Auto announced the change during the 12th edition in July 2025. Heritage brings the focus back to the classic grids, from the pre-war era, which the official site covers as 1923-1939, to the mid-1970s.
Le Mans Classic is as much a gathering as a race meeting. The official site speaks of 8,000 cars brought together by clubs and collectors around the circuit, and presents the event as a human and cultural experience as well as a motoring one, built around elegance and the French art de vivre. It is also the centrepiece of the 2027 Le Mans Classic Series, between the Grand Prix de l'Âge d'Or in June and Dix Mille Tours in August.
Ticketing for 2027 is open on the official site. Detailed grids, the timetable and enclosure prices had not been fully published at the time of writing, so check lemansclassic.com before booking travel and accommodation.
