The Goodwood Festival of Speed returns to the grounds of Goodwood House near Chichester on Thursday 15 to Sunday 18 July 2027. Goodwood calls it "the largest event of its kind", gathering some of the planet's rarest and most glamorous cars over four days.
The Festival was started in 1993 by the then Earl of March, now the Duke of Richmond. Goodwood says the first event opened to 25,000 people when it had expected 2,000. Goodwood now says more than 200,000 people attend over the four days. The 1.16-mile hillclimb past Goodwood House has been the centre of the action since that first year, and it gives visitors the rare chance to see historic Grand Prix cars, Le Mans prototypes, rally cars and motorcycles run in anger on a narrow estate road.
For collectors the Festival is also a motor show. Goodwood bills it as the UK's leading venue for car launches, with manufacturers revealing new models and sending them up the hill, and the Supercar Paddock has been part of the event since 2000. The Formula 1 Pit Lane is described as the event's "high-octane heart".
The weekend ends with the Timed Shoot-Out. In 2026 Romain Dumas won it for the third year running, driving the Ford Super Mustang Mach-E to a time of 41.97 seconds. It was his fifth Shoot-Out win. Dan Ticktum was second in the Formula E Gen4 car (42.46s).
The 2027 programme has not yet been published. In 2026 general admission for Friday to Sunday sold out in advance, so book early. GRRC Fellowship members get priority access. The Festival sits between the 84th Members' Meeting (10-11 April 2027) and the Revival in September, and the BRDC Classic at Silverstone follows a week later.
