The Donington Historic Festival returns to Donington Park in Leicestershire on 30 April-2 May 2027, its traditional Early May Bank Holiday slot. Motor Racing Legends says the 2027 meeting is the festival's 16th edition and the longest-running event on its calendar. It opens the UK historic racing season for many competitors.
The 2026 edition gives a good idea of the scale. Motor Racing Legends ran 18 races over three days, with almost 400 racing cars covering ten decades of motorsport. Grids included HRDC's Gerry Marshall Trophy for the Group 1 saloon cars that raced in the British Saloon Car Championship, such as the Rover SD1, Ford Capri and Chevrolet Camaro. Motor Racing Legends series include Pre-War Sports Cars, the Royal Automobile Club Woodcote Trophy, the Stirling Moss Trophy and the Historic Touring Car Challenge for cars from 1969 to 1990.
Off track, the 2026 festival had Formula 1 demonstration runs, more than 50 machines from the Supercar Driver community and club vehicles in the infield. For 2027 the organisers again promise high-speed demonstration runs and infield displays of historic vehicles from every era. In 2026 Saturday and Sunday were livestreamed free on Motor Racing Legends' YouTube channel.
Donington has a deep racing history, and the festival's touring car grids recall the circuit's revival in the late 1970s. It sits early in a busy Motor Racing Legends year. The 2027 calendar continues with the London Historic Trophy at Brands Hatch (18-20 June) and the BRDC Classic at Silverstone (23-25 July).
The race programme and ticket prices for 2027 had not been published at the time of writing.
Motor Racing Legends calls the Donington Historic Festival its longest-running event, and 2027 marks its 16th edition. The 2026 festival ran 18 races with almost 400 cars.
Venue: Donington Park, Castle Donington, Derby. 2027 tickets and timetable to be published by Motor Racing Legends and Donington Park. Club display space is usually available in the infield (check with the organiser).
